The U.S. Department of Labor announced that the North
Tennessee Workforce Board will receive funds from the
federal economic stimulus package which focuses specifically
on summer employment opportunities for local area youth.
Individuals age 14 – 24 years who are economically
disadvantaged or face other employment barriers are eligible
to apply for summer jobs making $7.25 or more per hour. The
Summer Youth Employment Project
in Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery,
Robertson, Stewart, Sumner and Williamson Counties in middle
Tennessee will be administered by Workforce Essentials
through local Tennessee Career Centers. Workforce
Essentials’ goal is to place approximately 750 young
individuals from the above listed area into worthwhile, work
experience summer jobs.
