Classes Ages 15-20

Driver Education

WorkForce Essentials provides certified Drivers Ed Classes for drivers ages 15-20. The program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel drive time. Students will attend the classroom instruction either over four consecutive Saturdays or four weekdays during one week – school schedules permitting. Behind-the-wheel drive time is scheduled separately and will occur outside of the classroom hours.

Here's what you need to know…

Age Must be a minimum of 15 years of age and not have reached their 21st birthday on the first day of class. A learner’s permit is not necessary.
Drivers Ed Complete Program Consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of individual drive time and are Tennessee Department of Safety certified. You may have the option to take an accelerated 4 day class offered during school breaks.
High School Wellness Classes Some of our locations work with local school districts to offer 15 hours of training in their High School Wellness Classes. Our instructors come to the school and provide safe driving instruction during class. If you've already taken a portion of Drivers Ed in a High School Wellness class, we offer optional 15 hour classes at our WorkForce Essentials locations so that you can finish your certification.

Cost $375 for a 30 hour class or $250 for a 15 hour High School Wellness class. Cost is per student.
Instructors In order to teach WorkForce Essentials Drivers Ed Classes, Instructors must pass a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation background check as well as rigorous written and driving exams administered by the Tennessee Department of Safety.
Discounts We offer a discount to military students and students who have a sibling take the course at the same time. In order to receive the discount, you must provide verification of military ID or sibling enrollment during registration. Call 1-800-865-0981 for more information.
Insurance Rates Completion of the class may qualify you for insurance discounts up to 15%. **Often the initial cost of the course is recovered in one-year's premium savings. Contact your insurance agent for more information.
Certificate Each student that completes the class satisfactorily will receive a certificate of completion.
Tennessee Driver's License After graduating from the class, qualifying students may take the written and/or road test*** at WorkForce Essentials for the Tennessee Driver's License or Permit.
English Language Requirement This course is offered by Workforce Essentials in the English language only. Students must be able to understand the English language in both written and verbal form. Workforce Essentials has the sole discretion to determine if the student’s comprehension of the English language is sufficient for classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction.
